Pictures Galore!

I can't believe that we have been in the house 20 days already! Things are really starting to come together. We had Pam take this picture right after we got done with closing!

Now I didn't take pictures of the boxes and unpacking process but here are some pictures of the house with things in it. We are still waiting on our sectional so the living room is empty for the time being. I can't wait for it to come in so we will have more seating! Now here are TONS of pictures of the house!

Leading to closing

So I am pretty far behind on posts! It is amazing just how crazy life can get leading up until closing!

So here is a quick recap to get everyone up to date. On Tuesday, March 13th, I found that our deck was completed. While it is small it seems bigger than I was expecting which is nice! They had also done a few small touch-ups around the house but nothing major.

On Wednesday, the 14th, I went by and noticed that we had all our doorhandles! It made it house look finished and more polished! The one thing I was still shocked about though is that they put down nothing over the carpet to protect them. Not only were construction workers coming the house but they also had touch up paint to complete. Luckily everything turned out fine, but I still can't believe they took that chance.

On Thursday, March 15th, I went by the house and couldn't believe that I could see the wood floors. I am guessing they had them cleaned and everything since the manager walk-through was on Friday. I was worried about how they would look with the rest of choices and about them being too red, but they looked perfect! I couldn't believe that in one week we would be homeowners!

On Friday I stopped by and noticed that they had done our landscaping as far as trees and shrubs go.  There was also some marks around the house from the manager's walk though for them to fix in the coming days. Then bright and early on Saturday we had our private home inspection. While on new construction some say it isn't need we felt it would be worth the money to have the peace of mind. Luckily he found nothing and said it looked like a good house!

our tree is already blooming, Tues, March 20th

So that is pretty much everything leading up to closing! I can't believe how quickly everything moved! Looking back it still doesn't seem real. Overall I am very happy with the building process, and while I have some complaints I would build with Brighton again.

Carpet and Appliances

On Monday, March 5th, I went by the house and we had a stove in the kitchen. In other news the empty lot next to us is now a big hole. We are excited that the lot is sold and that they are starting to work on the house.

On Tuesday, the 6th, we got a microwave and they started on our little deck.

On Friday I went by the house and noticed a few changes. They had fixed the one silver light fixture to match everything, and we have a dishwasher. We also have all the shelving in the closets.

On Saturday we went to house to show family. There was one guy painting and then someone else came to look at everything and told us that carpet was supposed to be delivered Monday. We also had another busy week-end trying to get everything ready for the house. We decided on a sectional for the living room, but it will be take 6-8 weeks to come in since it was a special order. Also we placed the order for our king bed and media stand. We will go back and get the dresser and night stands after we close. I can't wait to see how everything comes together in the house.

Sure enough after work today, March 12th, I stopped by and was greeted with carpet. It is amazing how it makes it look so much closer to being done with carpet. It wasn't covered with anything so hopefully they cover it soon so that it doesn't get dirty.

Lights and an Island!

On Friday, 24th, I went over the house after work. I couldn't wait to see how the island looked. I had been worrying about how it would fit since it was a custom change and the first time they tried in our model of house. I have to say it looks great, and I love the extra space it gives us! They had also installed the railing.

They put up some more railings and installed the thermostat on Monday the 27th. Sitting in the garage I also found all our lighting fixtures!

On Leap Day they starting putting up all the lighting fixtures. I love how they make it look more like a home! They also put the covers on the electrical outlets. This made me a little worried since our paint job doesn't look finished as there are quite a few spots showing though on the drywall. Part of me knew that they would have to fix it and that they couldn't be done painting, but I hadn't heard anything different I wasn't 100% sure. The one complaint I have with the building process is the lack of communication. It is just difficult to get a timely answer to our questions and we often don't have any idea what the plan is with the house.

On Thursday we ended up going over to the house after work and Matt finished burring some conduit for the cable line outside. Even though Matt was the person actually doing the work it is nice to know that we are working on something that will be ours! They also finished putting up all the lights in the house and hooked up everything to the breaker box so we have working lights. We somehow ended up with one silver light fixture in the kitchen, not real sure how the happened. Also while finishing up at the house that night we noticed that a part of the house looked to have a different brick on it. This did not make me happy as I had no idea what they could about it and we noticed after the sales office was closed so we had to wait until Friday to address it.

On Friday I don't have pictures but Matt spent pretty much the whole day the house. He meet someone at the house to have the whole house measured for blinds in the morning. Then he spent the day putting on all the connectors and covers for everything that he ran in the house. It is good to know that another project for the house is already done. While he was working at the house Jeff showed up which was great since we were able to get some questions answered. He said that the bricked hadn't been washed yet and it would all look the same in the end, so hopefully he is right. Also he said that they only put one coat of paint on to find the imperfections then they roll on two additional coats after the carpet is installed. While it seems like odd timing he said otherwise they always get messed up when they lay carpet. He also made some notes on the walls of things that needed addressed and seem to think that everything was on track.

I still can't believe that we close on the house in under 3 weeks!!
