On Friday, 24th, I went over the house after work. I couldn't wait to see how the island looked. I had been worrying about how it would fit since it was a custom change and the first time they tried in our model of house. I have to say it looks great, and I love the extra space it gives us! They had also installed the railing.
They put up some more railings and installed the thermostat on Monday the 27th. Sitting in the garage I also found all our lighting fixtures!
On Leap Day they starting putting up all the lighting fixtures. I love how they make it look more like a home! They also put the covers on the electrical outlets. This made me a little worried since our paint job doesn't look finished as there are quite a few spots showing though on the drywall. Part of me knew that they would have to fix it and that they couldn't be done painting, but I hadn't heard anything different I wasn't 100% sure. The one complaint I have with the building process is the lack of communication. It is just difficult to get a timely answer to our questions and we often don't have any idea what the plan is with the house.

On Thursday we ended up going over to the house after work and Matt finished burring some conduit for the cable line outside. Even though Matt was the person actually doing the work it is nice to know that we are working on something that will be ours! They also finished putting up all the lights in the house and hooked up everything to the breaker box so we have working lights. We somehow ended up with one silver light fixture in the kitchen, not real sure how the happened. Also while finishing up at the house that night we noticed that a part of the house looked to have a different brick on it. This did not make me happy as I had no idea what they could about it and we noticed after the sales office was closed so we had to wait until Friday to address it.

On Friday I don't have pictures but Matt spent pretty much the whole day the house. He meet someone at the house to have the whole house measured for blinds in the morning. Then he spent the day putting on all the connectors and covers for everything that he ran in the house. It is good to know that another project for the house is already done. While he was working at the house Jeff showed up which was great since we were able to get some questions answered. He said that the bricked hadn't been washed yet and it would all look the same in the end, so hopefully he is right. Also he said that they only put one coat of paint on to find the imperfections then they roll on two additional coats after the carpet is installed. While it seems like odd timing he said otherwise they always get messed up when they lay carpet. He also made some notes on the walls of things that needed addressed and seem to think that everything was on track.
I still can't believe that we close on the house in under 3 weeks!!
