Closing Date Set

We set up closing this morning for March 22nd. While we were hoping for a Friday closing we found out today that our appraisal expires on March 22nd so that will be the closing date. They have been working so hard on the house this week it is amazing to see how much they have gotten done in a few short days!! P.S. that means we are closing in 27 days. Even as I type it out it is hard to believe.

On Monday I stopped by the house and was greeted with a cloud of dust. They were busy sanding so I took one picture and left :)

The next day I wasn't sure what to expect but I was surprised to see paint on the walls. It amazing what a little paint can do to a place!

On Wednesday they had the cabinets sitting in the kitchen and interior doors laying around the house. Also I was surprised to see that they painted the "man cave" the wall color of the rest of the house. Technically it was supposed to be painted white like our trim, so it was great to see that "mistake." Then I almost missed it but they put down the flooring the two upstairs bathrooms and the laundry room. They were also putting up the board that they use to title around the bathtub and shower.

Today, the 23rd, I went by the house to expect kitchen cabinets and was blown away with everything they accomplished in one day! I still find it hard to believe so much could be done in such a short period of time! I will just let the pictures do the talking here.

Moving and Ceilings!

On Monday, the 13th, when I drove by after work they had uncovered the brick work. Looking at it finished I love the new brick color that we choose. They also cleaned up the inside of the house so there wasn't huge piles of drywall trash laying around.

On Valentines day they didn't take the day off!!  I figured they would have started to mud, but I couldn't believe that they mudded the whole house in practically one day!

I didn't notice anything done on Wednesday so no pictures from that day.

On Thursday I just did a quick drive by the house since the pod got delivered to the apartment that day and my mom was going to pick Bosco up to bring him over to her place. They started some siding work on the front of house which was great to see. They also put down some framing around the drive way, sidewalk, and front porch. Then there was a busy and late night of packing!!

On Friday it was another super quick trip since I had gotten off work later than planned and Matt had been packing the pod all day with the help of a friend and his dad! I had thought about not going but when I saw the garage and all the boxes I was glad I decided to go! I can't wait to see the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. They had also put down some gravel on the driveway and they were stamping the ceiling! It was a busy day at the house!

I didn't go upstairs since the scaffolding was in front of the stairs and I didn't want to get covered in paint!

Friday night we got everything out the apartment expect a few small things going to my mom's house and a tv stand for a friend. So we stayed at my mom's and woke up early Saturday to go see the pod get picked up and clean. They gave us the time frame of 8-11 to pick up the pod, but I figured it would be right around 8 since that is when they dropped it off. We were busy cleaning and they still hadn't called around 8:30 so I looked online and it said completed. I couldn't believe it so I ran into the hallway and sure enough the pod was sitting on the flat bed truck ready to go. So we will have to wait and see how they do it once we move into the house!

Later that day we went over the house to see the progress. As we pulled up we noticed that we had a driveway! Matt said it looked wet and sure enough it was really wet like they had just finished pouring it. So we wrote our names and the year in the sidewalk. :) They had also finished all the ceilings.

I have no idea what is on the schedule to be completed this coming week but I can't wait to see everything come together as we get closer to closing!!

Drywall

Just a warning this is a pretty long post!! It was a busy week with everything happening at the house! Then on top of the progress with the house we have been busy packing. We are moving out the apartment this week and moving in with my mom until the house is done. We are so lucky to have wonderful families that live nearby to help with us everything!

On Tuesday, the 7th, I drove by the house to find our brick was delivered and more siding work completed. I can't believe how quick that one siding guy can work. Also you can see that the roofer was finishing up.

The next day I drove by and there was scaffolding with our brick laid out ready to go on the house. Then I noticed stacks of something in the garage. I couldn't believe drywall was delivered!! While I was thrilled to see the drywall I was a little upset that I still hadn't heard about a pre-drywall meeting.

that is some huge pieces of drywall

On Thursday after leaving a message for Jeff the night before I got the call to schedule the meeting for the next day. While I wasn't thrilled about the late notice he said that is the only day he could do it so we made it work, after some last minute phone calls on Friday. They also started to lay the brick on Thursday. I accidentally turned off auto focus and didn't realize it until later so please excuse the blurry picture.

Friday we meet with Jeff at lunch time. It didn't take but about 30 minutes. We walked through the house and made sure all the changes to the house were there. While he wasn't sure about a close date since he didn't have a paint date yet, he said that March 30th should work. So that is our tentative close date. Hopefully everything will go as scheduled!! They were busy putting up insulation while we did our walk though and then someone from energy star was coming that evening to check the house before they put up drywall. Here are some pictures of the insulation.

I didn't go on Saturday since it was freezing and I was busy packing the apartment. Matt went with his dad at lunch time and they were already almost done dry walling the house. I still can't believe how quickly these guys can work sometimes!! On top of it all it was super windy and they were still trying to lay brick there is no way you would catch me on that scaffolding with 20+ mph winds!!

Today, the 12th, we went back to house with my mom to see if they finished dry walling and they did. Here are a few more pictures of the drywall.

According to Jeff to should take about 4 days to finish the drywall with mud and everything. Then a crew will come in and clean up. He should also find out our paint date this week! I can't wait for everything to start coming together! Wow looking back I can't believe how much has happened in the past week!
